The University of Texas at Austin has a long history of battery innovation, most notably in the research of lithium-ion battery inventor and Nobel Prize winner John Goodenough, who joined UT in the 1980s and laid the foundation for battery research and invention across campus. Already known as the Energy University, UT continues to be a sought-after battery hub for faculty, researchers, students and partners from industry and government. And with the establishment of premiere research centers and organizations, such as the Texas Materials Institute and the Energy Institute, we are well-suited, well-equipped and well-prepared to develop the next generation of batteries.
